By the time she got to his table,he was on his feet,he pulled out a chair for her,she thanked him and sat,she placed her hand on the table,and carefully withdrew it to her lap,she didn't even know where to keep them,she looked at her partner who was relaxed in his chair.
''Good afternoon beautiful one''he said cheerfully,beckoning to a waiter with his left hand,the waiter walked towards their table.
''Good afternoon.....sir....Mr Jacob ...Smiths'' she spoke shyly
Instantly there was a frown on his face.
''Please do me the favour of cutting off the sir and Mr,i prefer you call me Jacob'' Jane nodded her head.
The waiter was now at their table,they ordered for Fried rice garnished with salad and chicken,and a bottle of wine. The waiter left.
Someone looking from afar would think,they planned to be on white,well,it was just coincidental,
Jacob wore a white suit,brown shoes and a shade,he wasn't wearing a tie,he looked young,matured and devilishly handsome,chocolate in complexion,if there was anything like that anyway,he looked clean,fresh and he smelled money,his watch lay firmly on his wrist,he had broad shoulders and a wide chest,he was tall and had flesh on his body he was always smiling.
Her mum had advised her to be careful with handsome and smiling men,he looked calm and there was something like excitement in his eyes,she couldn't say for sure,or maybe it was just a figment of her imagination,The waiter returned with their food and wine,he placed it carefully on the table and left.
Jacob shifted in his chair and spoke calmly,
''Once again,i am Jacob Smiths''he uncovered their food and poured wine into their glasses.''I'll like to know you better....he paused....i mean know you betterrrrr'' stressing the better. He picked his fork and began to eat,he enjoys eating rice,fried rice in particular.
Jane spoke quietly but boldly,still holding her fork,she asked,
''What exactly do you want to know about me'' like a typical Nigerian lady would ask.
''Everything there is to know'' He smiled and drank from his glass.
''Fine,Janet Odenuga is my name,my friends call me Jane,am born into a family of four,i am the first daughter,my mum is a Fashion designer and my dad is a lawyer,i study at The Polytechnic Ibadan,am doing my Higher National Diploma II, am study Public Administration''she continued with her food.
''Thats a good one,public administration, hmmm, government,politics,organization,rights?
Jane nodded her head.
''Well,i work for The Smiths Corporation,born into a family of four,my parents,my elder sis, and i''
He went on and on,they ate and drank,they discussed various issues.Jacob received a call and asked to be excused,after extracting a promise from Janet to go out again soon,he thanked her for coming and that he did enjoy her company.
Janet was so happy,Jacob seemed a good man,and spoke like one too,he had this soft look in his eyes,she knew right from the start that she was attracted to him,she only hoped he was a gentle man to the end.
They went out often and often,and soon he asked her to a relationship with him,she agreed and that was it,their love story began,rocking a ship on the shores of peaceful water.Janet liked Jacob,hmmmm,she didn't see it coming,she knew not what was in store for her.
Chapter 2
Janet schooled in Ibadan,while her parents and her younger sister lived in Lagos.Jacob also had his company headquarters in Lagos,they had a branch in Ibadan,he visited Jane constantly in school,took her out and showered gifts on her,he could say with all honesty that he was in love with his girlfriend.He got attracted to her from the first day,to hell with who ever said love at first sight doesn't exist.His only fear was his mother,because she had insisted he marry from their class-the rich circle-she had introduced many ladies to him,most of them were beautiful,but had nothing upstairs.
But Janet captivated him,she spoke fluent english,she was smart,intelligent and had a great body,so what else?
He had not been able to take the bold step to introduce Janet to his mother,even though the woman had insisted he brought home his girlfriendJacob was of mixed parentage,his father was from Jamaica,and his mother a yoruba woman.Even his elder sis Jackie had wanted to meet her.After so much persuassion,he agreed to bring her over,one of the weekends.
Mrs Funmilayo Smiths was Jacobs mother,she lived with her children in their family estate in Ikoyi,her husband John Smith lived in Jamaica.She was a successful woman,she was a professional Carterer,and she loved cooking.
Being Yoruba,she taught her children Yoruba language,though they rarely speak it in Public.Jacob had informed her that his girlfriend would be having Lunch with them in the afternoon.
It was quarter to one on the wall clock,she was reading her favourite magazine-Every Woman,in her room.There was a knock,it was their househelp Ruth.
''Come in''she answered
''Madam,small oga and one fine madam don come o'' Ruth said.
''Serve them juice,tell Jacob,i'll be with them soon''
Ruth was still standing by the door,
''What are you waiting for enhen''
''No o,i just wan ask you whether to serve them oga with glass''
''Okay,pour the juice on my hand and serve them,silly girl''she snapped.
''But Madam....i......come to....''
''Just shut your mouth,serve them juice in a glass,and get away!''she waved her away,and Ruth left.
She arranged her hair,looked in the mirror and went to the sitting room.
Jacob and Janet did not see her come in,she coughed to indicate her prescence.Jacob stood up and hugged his mother.
''Good afternoon mum''he drawled.
''Good afternoon dear,how are you''she said
''Am fine and you''she sat on the couch opposite theirs.
Jacob now sat beside Janet,''Mum,meet my girlfriend Janet''he smiled at his mother.
''Good afternoon ma''Janet said curtly.
''Is she the one''she spoke straight faced.
''yes,she is,isn't she beautiful''Jacob smiled.
Janet glanced at him,why was he always smiling,the man sure had a thing for smiling.
''She is,i can see'' looking awkwardly at Janet,she asked the question on Jacobs mind.
''Who are your parents''
Janet wasn't expecting that,
''Mr and Mrs Odenuga''Janet answered quickly.
''Odenuga?.... Odenuga?...Ode..nu...ga' she repeated,strange name,so who are they in this country,i mean what position do they hold'' she said standing up.
''Mum,you can't ask her such questions''
''Ok,i can't ask her that? Why? Or...do you want to answer for her? She eyed him,' Now,speak up,who are your roots in this country?' she almost shouted.
''My mum is a designer and my dad is a Lawyer''
''Good,is your dad a SAN''
''No''
''Lawyer Odenuga?never heard of that name.Son! What is this you have brought home,i am highly disappointed in you'' she hissed and walked out.
''Mum,that's not fair'',Jacob screamed after his mother.
''Look Janet,i'll talk to her'' he spoke calmly holding her hands.
''Jacob please take me out of this place''she was shaking and sobbed quietly.
''I will,please calm down''
Janet gazed vaguely out of the window,her emotions were throbbing,she had just been rejected by the mother of the man she loved.Although Jacob had called to apologize,she still felt sore,she wasn't expecting the blow she received.Jacob had met her mother so many times,Jane mother had insisted she brought home the man who constantly showered her daughter with gifts,she had been surprised and at the same time excited to meet Jacob and she gave her consent to the relationship,Janet sat on the chair by her dressing table,her mother had not returned from work.her door was open,her younger sis came in.
''Would you like me to keep you company big sis''she was already sitting on the bed.
''Even if i mind your company,you have already jumped the gun'' Janet said looking gloomy
''Just as i expected,since you came back this afternoon,you haven't spoken a simple sentence in this house''Hannah asked
''Huh....well...you know...''Jane stammered.
''Now you see,just cut it big sis,whats troubling you,when did you become a stammerer''
Janet stood up,''I dnt know what to say,i just dont know how to start it''
''Just say it anyhow,am all ears''
''Fine,Jacob asked me to Lunch with his mother this afternoon,pause,hmmm and she said she was dissappointed in his choice of woman,that i was classless''she broke into tears.
Hannah stood up to calm her sister ''You and i know that you are not classless,so why are you hurting yourself over this''
''I felt humilated this noon''
''Its ok,dinner is ready,stop crying,its all a matter of time,i believe she'll come around soon.
''Thanks Hannah''.
Things had been rosy between Jacob and Janet except for the other day,when his mother had walked out on them in the sitting room,He still remembered the ugly conversation they had that night.
''Jacob wo,omo to mu wa losan,is not someone who you should be seen with'' His mum rarely spoke Yoruba this days.
''But why''
''Thats a good question and i'll explain'' she sat upright on her bed.
''CLASS is an important thing to people in our circle,a man of authority and class like you,should not stoop low to date classless ladies,money and class go paripasu,you're a man of status,see yourself as one.And again,who are her parents in this country?what power can they yield?what influence do they have?what connections do they have? Son,tell me'' she sat down
''Janets parents are well to do,her father is a lawyer and her mum is a designer,as long as they can afford the food they eat,they are okay mum'' Jacob countered
''As far as i am concerned,omo Janet abi ki lo ti pe,ko si ni level e,and you can't date her,infact i want you to stop seeing her''
Jacob laughed''Well,thats impossible,i love her and she loves me too''
''You love her looks,she loves your money,simple! All she wants is your money,get that into your head boy''she snapped
''Janet is a beautiful lady,she's smart,and she loves me not my money''
''Senator Franks daughter is a good girl,i have introduced you to Sholange,Chief Mrs Kuti's daughter,and so many more that i cannot even remember,ki ni mo nba e fa gan,temi lo ma se,you can't date that silly and classless girl''
They had argued on and on,until Ruth came in to inform them that dinner was ready.They had a quiet dinner that night,Jackie kept looking at both,mother and son during dinner,wondering what was happening.
After dinner,Jacob had a cool shower and went straight to bed,though he couldn't sleep,it was some minutes past nine,when his phone rang,he checked the caller Id,it was Janet,he picked the call and placed the phone to his ears...he wasn't expecting what he heard.'
'Whaaattttttt?'' he screamed and jumped up.
Janet had called to inform Jacob that her dad just had an accident on his way back from work,he had been rushed to the hospital where he was declared clinically dead.Janet wept her eyes out,her mum and Hannah cried uncontrollably,Jacob was there to console her,he stood by her all through,he assisted them in making the burial arrangement,Janet and her mother were grateful to him.
Two weeks after the death and burial of her beloveth father,well wishers still trooped in numbers to their house.
Mother and Children were beginning to get hold of their life again,Jane was planning to go back to school for the last stretch of her final semester,when their wall came crashing.
It was a bright Monday afternoon,Mrs Odenuga was relaxing in the sitting room,when two dark men carrying suitcase came in,she asked them in and offered them water which they turned down politely,they sat on the couch in the sitting room.
''Good afternoon gentlemen,what can i do for you''she asked them,
One of them spoke up,
''Good afternoon madam,you're Mrs Odenuga i believe,we are from CBT Bank Nigeria,/they brought out their ID card\,Ikoyi branch.
We share our condolence with you on the demise of your husband,he paused,we are here to inform you that Lawyer Odenuga obtained loan from our bank,and is yet to pay back,the payment date expired three weeks ago,we would have come earlier,but for the demise of your husband,our customer,we decided to shift it to this date''
Mrs Odenuga who was relaxed on the couch before,now sat straight on the edge of her seat.She was surprised,her husband never informed of any loan,and they didn't hid things from each other.
''My husband is not a business man,he is a Lawyer and he didn't inform me about this'' Her head was throbbing hard.
The man who spoke the other time nodded to his partner to continue.The other man placed his suitcase on his lap and opened it,he brought out some papers,he cleared his throat and started.
''Here Madam,are the documents of the loan which your husband signed,the loan was obtained for his friend,using your husbands property-this very house and his car- as collaterals to be confiscated upon failure to pay,these papers were duly signed by Lawyer Odenuga.he paused
''The bank has been considerate enough to give you a week notice to vacate this building with your belongings only,as two security men have been placed outside to ensure adherence to this''
The two men stood up at the same time,''Once again,we are sorry about your husband,we share in your grief,Goodday ma''
they left.
Unknown to them that the woman looking relaxed in her seat had just fainted.........
It was late in the evening when Janet got home,she saw her mother's relaxed form on the couch,she tiptoed to her room,to pull off her clothes and shoe,she wore a blue top on shorts.
'Mum,i have told you times without number not to sleep on the couch'
she tried mimicking her mother,but there was no reply,she moved closer to touch her,yet the older woman didn't move,she stepped back,and shouted in fear.
'Mum!mum! Someone please help me' she screamed
she rushed out,two neighbours came in to help her,they hailed a taxi and carried her to the hospital,that was just two streets away.
They filled the necessary forms,and deposited some money,immediate medical attention was given to her.The doctor informed her that,the situation was under control and if they had been ten minutes late,it would have been another story entirely.
Janet paid the bills as her mother was discharged two days later.
Mrs Odenuga finally explained to her daughter all that happened that Monday afternoon.Janet was as surprised as her mother had been,when she got the news.
Janet informed Hannah too,the family was struck in awe,she also informed Jacob,who told her to calm down,he also promised to get them settled.
By the end of the week,Jacob secured a new four bedroom apartment for the family,he also gave them money,mrs Odenuga had refused the money at first,but after little persuasion from Jacob,she thanked him profusely.
The admission list for Unilorin was out the following week,Hannah was so happy to have made it,she had her name printed bodly on the merit list.They all looked sad at dinner,who would take care of the bill?her school fee,hostel fee and other necessary fees.
Janet summoned some courage to to tell Jacob,who volunteered to take care of all the bills and expenses-well,what was she expecting,those are things that happen when you have a millionaire boyfriend-,if only his mother would just accept her,hmmm,she thought.
When she broke the news to her family,they were very happy again.Janet was so happy that things were beginning to look fine for the family again.
Janet returned to school to complete the last stretch of her final year in school.She was the envy of her friends{sharon and Zainab}they were her roommates in the hostel.Jacob came to school to see her frequently,shopped for her.They always share nice times together.
Janet completed her Hnd programme soon,she was waiting for her posting,for her Youth Service.She had returned home by now.Her friend,Zainab had called to inform her their final year result were out and she made a distinction.
She danced and danced,she thanked God for seeing her through with good grades,she called Jacob at work to announce to him,he was equally happy for her and promised to take her on a treat for this.
Janet was no longer a small girl,she was now twenty three and looked ever beautiful,her friends in school often teased her calling her a 'black mami water' if there was any thing of such.
Janet's mum had been the happiest upon receiving the news,she shed tears of joy that night,she was now working again and she was in good health,they had a new househelp.Hannah was studying happily in school.
Just as Jacob promised,he called earlier in the day to inform her that,he'll be taking her on a treat in the afternoon.Janet had dressed quite simple,she wore a pinkplait short skirt on white turtle neck blouse,he took her to the beach,Jacob had asked his secretary to pack a picnic basket of lunch for two.
They had fun at the beach,ate lunch,drank wine,she enjoyed the fruits too,they played along the water side.Janet seemed to be in a very good mood,which was because,she had goodnews.
They sat on the sand,and talked.
'Dear,you look so excited today'he said
'Well,thats because am happy' she said laughing
'Do you care to share with me,that which is making you happy' he asked,moving closer to her side
'Yes Yes Yes,but you have to guess'she smiled knowingly.
'And you know,am not so good at guessing'
'Just try something jo' she pushed him gently.
'You probably won a visa lotterry' he joked.
'Hell no,i never told i wanted one'
'You're happy that you're through with school'
'Hmm,thats 10% true,keep guessing'
'Out with it dear,am not a good guesser,so dont keep me in dark'
'Well should i tell you or not' she joked
'Please tell me,i want to share in your happiness' he was wearing a more serious look.
'Okay,the postings are out,and have just been posted to Abuja for my service' she said happily
'Oh! how good'he laughed,and hugged her tightly.
There was a partial frown on his face,although he was smiling,he did a good job of trying to hid th frown,but she had seen it.
'Pretty reason to be happy though,all the same am happy for you dear' he pulled her close,and kissed her lightly on her lips.
'I can't wait to tell mum.
'Pretty reason to be happy though,am happy for you'
'Thank you,i can't wait to tell mum at dinner.'
'Goodluck girl' he said
'Thanks boy'
They both burst into laughter.
Breaking the news to her mum had been so easy,her mother was so happy for her,Abuja was her dream city,she had read a lot about the place,and to think thats where Aso Rock is,and here is an opportunity to live and work in Abuja for a whole year,Nothing sounds better than that,she cleared the table after dinner.
Earlier in the day,her friend Zainab had called her to tell that,she had also been posted in Abuja,they had shared gist and laughed happily.She slept late watching Merlin season4.
It was a great day after all.

Morning Noises.The chatter of sparrows outside her window,birds calling on each other,and the rattle of dishes in the kitchen.
Janet stretched luxuriously,her mind only gradually coming back on line.It had been a wild evening,even if you balanced the pros and cons.
She sat up in bed looking at the twisted sheets,the pillows on the floor and crumpled condition of the lace at the throat of her shortie nightgown.
The kettle whistled from the kitchen,that must be Judy in there,their househelp.She was about getting out of bed,when her phone rang,the knew who the caller was,by the ringtone.And why was he calling her this early.
'Hello darling' she said laughing into the mouthpiece.
'Hello Dear'he said 'Did you sleep well?'
'Yes,i did.Hop u did too' she paused, 'And thanks for taking me out yesterday.'
'My pleasure dear,i called to inform you about a change that came up' His voice plunged low.
'Change?what is it?'
'Actually,i had to reshedule something and ...... ....' he started
'Jacob,dont patronize me,and cut this preamble' she was beginning to get afraid but didn't let it show in her voice,she craddled the phone closer to her ears.
'Be calm dear,i changed your posting' he said calmly.
'Look,i dont get you'
'You'll no longer serve in Abuja' he began.
'what? I didn't hear you well,pls come again' she managed in a cool voice.
'You heard me baby'
'Just cut the baby,' she snapped 'why did you do that,i love Abuja,and am going to serve there'
'I wanted you to be close to me,i dont want to lose you' he explained to her.
'Crap! You had no reason to do that,you didnt even consult me' she said.
'Anyway,you'll live and work here in Lagos' that sounded more like an order.
'Fine,its alright,bye'
'Its okay baby,i'll call you later' he dropped the call.
Janet let her phone drop on the bed,she was devastated,she had dreamed of working there,and here was Jacob,blowing up her plan.She sulked all morning,she took her bath and wore a worn out jean on a faded red top,she had omellete,toast bread and juice for breakfast,Judy sure knows how to make tasty meals.
Her mother had gone to work,Janet was watching Music Africa in the sitting room,when the door bell rang.
'Judy,please get the door' she called.
Judy,who was in the kitchen went to open the door.
'Good afternoon sir,how are you sir.Yes sir,she's in' she answered all at once. She opened the door wider to let him in.
'Hello Janet' He drawled
'Hi Jacob,please sit down' She said waving him to the couch.
'C'mon dear,are you still angry with me dear? You know i did it all for you,i dont want you off my sight' he said sitting by her side.
She nodded,'Its okay dear'.
'And i have a surprise for you' he glanced at her and brought out something from his pocket.
Excitement lighted up in her eyes,she leaned closer to have a look.
'Not so fast dear' he said,standing up,he drew her up, 'Come look at this',and she followed him outside.
'Where are you taking me too' she laughed,Jacob opened the gate and drew her along.
'Here,we come' he stopped in front of a fiery red Toyota Camry,a brand new car.Janet closed her eyes and opened them again,the car was still there.
Jacob handed her the key to the car
'Hey boy,i dont understand this mini drama' she looked surprised and happy at the same time.
'Hey girl,i got this for you' he said placing his hands on the beautiful car
'Oh! Jacob' understanding dawned on her,she smiled brightly
'Thank you so much' She jumped into his opened arms.
'You'll be needing it very much' he smiled at her. 'Do you like it?' he asked.
'Yes baby,i love it' She kissed him lightly on his lips.
'Lets finish that inside!'
Janet was all smiles.They went inside holding hands.
That night,Janet and her mum did a mini celebration,Judy made fried rice with chicken,they had salad to go with it.She called Hannah in school to inform her too.
She was so excited,she loved the car and it looked beautiful,sitting in their well trimmed compound.
She called Jacob later in the night to thank him again.The anger she felt in the morning was gone,it was replaced with a burning love and desire for her boyfriend.She just prayed that over time,Jacob' mother would come to accept her as part of his world,she prayed again.she lay on her bed and off she slept.

Jacob had become busy at work and busy means,he calls her early in the morning and late at night.His work wouldn't let him,what do you expect,a young man controlling large expanse of business,he was always travelling,just a phone call and he is on his way out of the country,to execute one project or the other,attending one meeting here and there,speaking at seminars and conventions.
The Smiths corporation occupied a large building,a three storey,spacious compound for staff and customers to pack their cars and a mini eatery that served continental dishes,being the headquarters office,it was famous all around.Clients troop in from all over the world.
Jacob's office was situated on the third floor,a very spacious office,the mahogany desk he used had two arm chairs in front of it,a mini sitting arena at the other angle where he received personal guest,a refridgeratoe and a mini bar.His secretary's office was right before his own.His secretary Sharon was a plump but tall lady,she's smart and easy to work with.
Jacob arrived at work some minutes past eight am,he nodded as Sharon greeted him,he walked to his office ,removed his suit and sat down.
Sharon came in wearing a blue jacket on a yellow camisole,she wore a blue straight knee length pant that hugged her perfect curves,she looked beautiful and too sexy for a secretary,She brought some files in.
'Sir,these are the files for BOLLYKaY group of company,Mr Kunle is through with it,and here is KFacTOrs holdings file too'she said smoothly
'Is that all!' Jacob asked placing the files on cabinet.
'Yes Sir' she excused herself,as she was about to open the door,she turned back.
'Excuse me sir,one more thing,Miss Katherine called this morning,she asked you to call her'she said carefully and went out.
At the mention of the name Katherine,his mind snapped back.
What? Why did she call? Katherine whom he fondly referred to as Kat was his ex girlfriend of nine months,they had everything going fine until she started seeing another man,a french named Sebastian.She came up with different excuses,before they finally broke up.Kat came back two months later to apologize,he accepted her apology but refused to have anything to do with her again.
He had made it clear that it was over indeed.Kat was a good girl from a rich home though she was a spoilt girl who always got everything anyhow.She had a great body with killer curves.
Jacob picked up his phone and dialled Kat' number,she picked it at the first ring.
'Hi Katherine' Jacob said,he stood up from his chair and stood by the window.
'Hello Jacob dear' she said,her voice was sharp and she sound delighted.
'Kat,Sharon informed me that you called'' he said,playing with the curtain of the window.
'Yes,i did call,i tried your mobile earlier,it was going through,that was why i called your office line,actually i want to see you' she said carefully in one breath.
'See me?' Jacob asked.
'See you,or is too much to ask of you' Kat replied
'Ofcourse,its just that am busy this days' Jacob said.
'What about dinner at my place over the weekend'she said
'Thats out of it Kat'
'How about Dinner about The StriKeRs'she asked again.
'Lunch at Foodco sounds better'
'Is saturday okay with you?'Kat said
'Thats it then,bye for now' he agreed
'Bye Jacob' She said happily into the mouthpiece
Jacob dropped his phone on the table and called for a cup of coffee.
Jacob left the office quarter past three,well it was quite early for someone who would not drop his pen till dusk.....he was partially married to his work.He had left because,his head was about to break,he had a head smashing ache.he drove home,as luck was on his sides,there was no traffic.
The sun shone brightly in all its glory adding to his bundle of pain.
He horned four times before Adamu opened the gate,he drove in while Adamu closed the gate and ran to meet Jacob.
'Oga Jay,welcome o' Adamu greeted him
'Adamu what took you so long to open the gate?' he wasn't smiling
'I bin dey watch TV o,oga Jay no vex,and this one wey you quick come home,se no wahala ba!'Adamu joked.
'Hey,Adamu,this is no time for jokes,i have headache,just bring my suitcase in and lock the car' Jacob said walking away from Adamu,he walked across the well trimmed lawn.
'So,Oga Jay fit get headache,nawa o,anyway make i carry this tin go inside' he locked the car and carried the bag in.
It was late in the evening when Jacob woke up,the last he remembered was having a little lunch,he had taken some pills and knocked out on his couple bed.He felt better now,he stretched his hands to pick his phone,he had eight missed calls.he dropped the phone and was abt getting up from the bed when his mother walked in.
'Huh,Mum you should knock before coming in'Jacob said looking at his mother.
'Well,am in already,sorry about that.I checked you twice but you were still relaxing and i didnt want to bother you' She said lightly,she sat down on his bed and paused.
'Mum,i know you're here for something,but cant it wait,am kind of tired' He tried to brush off his mother,because he knew that,whatever it was that brought her in must be important and he wasn't in the mood for talks.
'Son,listen,it can't wait.'she stood up and sat on the chair by his dressing table 'some rumors have been flying around about you,and i'ld like to confirm them'she said.
Jacob prayed,it wasn't about Janet,as he had anticipated,
'And what did you hear? Mother of mine,when did you start listening to gossips' he challenged her.
'Well,i listen to important ones,if you must know.Is it true what i heard?' she said
'Am no wizard mother,what have you heard' he questioned her
'You remember that poor thing,you brought home the other time,i heard you bought her family a big house and now rumor has it that you bought her a car last month.'
Jacob shifted on the bed but refused to say a word.
'My dear,answer me'
'Mum,all this has got nothing to do with you' he said,standing up from the bed.
'No,it has everything to do with me,if you must know' she snapped.
Jacob knew he was treading dangerous grounds now.'Mum,thats my personal business' he said.
'Look at you,what do you know about personal business?'
'I am the one dating her,please let me be,i know its Jackie feeding you all this nonsense' Jacob answered,trying not to get angry.
Just then Jackie walked in,not aware of the boiling atmosphere.
'I just searched the whole house looking for you Mum' she laughed happily,bursting to share her goodnews with her family,but there was no response
'Hey brother of mine,you're home early today' mother and son looked at each other.
'Now,whats happening?whats wrong?'why are you two starring at me like that?'
No answer.
As she was about to leave the room,Jacob spoke
'Sis,am tired of Mum interfering in my affairs' he almost screamed.
'Calm down Jay,What is it?' Jackie stood beside him and put her arms around his neck. 'Mum,what did you say to him' Jackie asked
Their mother eyed Jacob,'Is it too much of me,to tell my son not to waste his money on a poor thing!' she snapped
'Mum,don't you ever call Janet a poor thing again,and this conversation is OVER!'
his voice thundered,and walked out of the room.
'Jacob Adekunle Smith,you walk out on me because of that poor thing,i can't believe this' she walked round the room and sat on the bed looking sad.
'Mother,so it is about this lady again?huh?Jay is no longer a child,he's twenty six!
'Please Mother,don't get worked up over nothing.'
'The poor thing is after his name and M0NEY!' she sighed and walked out too,leaving Jackie to follow her.
Jacob screamed at Adamu and ordered him to open the gate.Adamu knew his boss rarely screamed,he opened the gate and Jacob drove out,it was dark already.
Just as Adamu was about closing the gate,Ruth came by carrying a basket.
'Ruth baby,wetin i fit give you o'Adamu said moving to her side.
'Don't give me anytin,here is your food' she said dropping the basket and turned to leave.
'So?you wan comot like that abi,com inside make we play small jo' Adamu teased her
'Hey,dnt touch me o,if you dnt wnt me to shout'
suddenly adamu grabbed her waist and started kissing her,Ruth made no move to stop him,he began gropping at her round and soft bosom,Ruth laughed too.
'Ruth,where are you' Someone screamed.
